Emptiness of irony – DFW

A great quote from the previously linked to radio documentary on DF. Listen to the audio clip for the full quote. Classic DFW.

If I show you that I believe we’re both bastards and that there’s no point to anything, and that I was last naive at about age six, then I protect myself from your judgement of the worst possible flaw in me, sentimentality and naivete.” – David Foster Wallace

One Life in a Day – RompréStomp 2010 mini documentary

March 26, 2011 § Leave a Comment

Shawn, dad and I are getting rolling on the next edition of the RompréStomp and I stumbled across this mini documentary some creative soul made of last year’s show. I honestly can’t say that I remember anyone filming this!

There’s no footage of the main event and that’s great. One of the things that I love about putting this whole thing on, is hearing about the constellations of happenings and scenes that I had no idea was going on.

In case you want in the loop on RompreStomp stuff, join the RompreStomp facebook group

See you out here in July.

Stunning use of timelapse photography to tell a captivating story.  This piece was shot entirely on a dslr camera using available light. Another no-buget film project that simply wouldn’t have been possible even two years ago.

Adam Anthony’s ‘The Maestro’ Makes Creative Use of Time-Lapse Photography: “

Timelapse photography is everywhere now, but other than to show the passage of time, it’s rarely used as a storytelling device. Director Adam Anthony’s short ‘The Maestro’ was a finalist at this year’s Tropfest, and finds a way to integrate the effect into the story: (more…)

I am a NERD!! – The Best Camera…Nerd Night Slideshow

March 7, 2011 § Leave a Comment

Hey, here’s a presentation I gave on photography at Phnom Penh’s nascent Nerd Night scene. Really it’s more a presentation on forgetting about equipment and actually *gasp* focusing on images. Ignore the horrific number of ‘likes’ and ‘ums’ I threw in there (I though an MA was supposed to me sound smrter). The whole thing was an improvisation on a theme, so it rates pretty low on the eloquence scale. With that enticing pitch…

Nerd Night is done in a Pecha Kutcha format – 20 seconds, 20 slides, image-based slides (no reading!). It’s a fresh, non-intimidating approach to sharing ideas that is practically boring-proof. Thanks to Yi Wei and Mike Hahn for getting this together.

Where Am I?
